Another Tomb Fetus devlog is here! We're gonna take a listen to the music for Titan's Realm, and we'll see what's been going on in the realm of the launcher! We'll also be revisiting Stallywag to see some new developments! Read at your leisure. You could do it NOW, though.
The Ode to Hell
A new Tomb Fetus music preview! Medley of Damnation is the track for Titan's Realm. It's an unholy union of Doom tracks, from 1993 all the way to 2024! It's like a demonic war song, which makes getting chased by a giant pink demon dude a whole lot scarier.#TombFetus #gamedev #modding #music #doom

A lot of the music in Tomb Fetus is very... varied! You've got some synthpop kinda stuff, some eurobeat-y stuff, some dubstep, some jazz, and so on and so forth. Since Titan's Realm and BFG Divison are themed after Doom 2016, it seemed fitting to bring a little bit of that Argent-y sound into the game.
The track Somewhat Larger Weapon, created by the artist Withered Rose for the yet-to-be-seen map BFG Division, was the first to bring that sound into Tomb Fetus. Walking the same path, I modeled my track after Mick Gordon's track Damnation from Doom 2016, bringing in some evil-ass drums and some synths mimicking guitars. I brought in some melodies from some of my favorite Doom tracks, including Waltz of the Demons and Demons on the Prey. The track ventures into other songs as well, as hinted at from the credits, but I'll keep those secret for now...

We haven't seen Stallywag since... the last time we saw Stallywag! Since then, a whole slew of new art pieces have been acquired by the curator! All kinds of pieces are on display, so find something that you like and look at it intently!

Never been an art fan in my life. This art makes me emotional.
Previous shots and footage of this map only had a handful of unique paintings, crafted by the map's creator Skerion. A few months ago, I locked in and threw together a bunch of new pieces to fill out the rest of the museum! Some call back to previous projects, some are fun little homages, and others are entirely from scratch! The majority of the original art pieces remains intact of course, with some extra touchups to make 'em shine.

You can turn left, you can turn right...
In other Stallywag-related news, I noded it for bots! The bad news is that they got added before I reworked the bot nodes to be easier to make, so now the bot nodes don't work. So I gotta redo all that. BUT! It'll be faster! Woo! Woohoo! Yeah! Heck yes! Heck yes dude. Woo.

Ancient and venerable...
These three paintings are the most recent acquisition of the curator. While many of the pieces on display are culturally important, these pieces are rare historical artifacts! These delicate texts are but a mere piece of the mythology of Sar'Jan, believed by many to be the great progenitor of life on this planet. Don't touch 'em; they're one of a kind. Three of a kind? They are kind.
Prepare for Launch
Development on the launcher has been happening! For a brief recap, Tomb Fetus will be taking advantage of itch.io and its launcher, so downloads and patches will be handled through that. With distribution squared away, the remaining obstacle was an actual server browser. Doomseeker is the main browser of choice, used by other standalone mods like Megaman 8-Bit Deathmatch and QC: Doom Edition, but I desired something integrated directly into the launcher to make it friendlier to new players who aren't familiar with Doom mods.

Server list stuff and things of that nature!
I must now admit that I'm not experienced with the encoding/decoding stuff that is required to directly interface with Zandronum's master server. BUT! Thanks to the creation known as doomlist, I was able to integrate a custom server browser into the launcher! It filters out non-Tomb Fetus servers, so new players don't find themselves accidentally joining a Brutal Doom server.
For those who don't want to jump right into multiplayer servers (or just want to experience the game and maps at their own pace), the launcher can also launch into an offline mode! At this time, your only option is to battle bots. You can change the amount of bots, and you'll be able to change the difficulty of them too! Customize your solo experience as you wish! Do it! Now! RIGHT NOW!
That's about it for this devlog! Lots of bot improvements have been made, such as fixing the bots being unable to strafe. Oops! Some long-standing UI issues have also been fixed, and sounds/VO for the Baron of Hell have been making progress as well. The ship continues steadily, and so does my devlog streak! Let's go ahead and ignore the off-week so I look more awesome and cool and workaholic-y. There will be a devlog after this one and it will contain images and words
